Vineyard

Our vineyards enjoy a privileged location within the horseshoe-shaped Apalta Valley: a small valley protected by the nearby Coastal Range from the winds that blow through the Tinguiririca River Canyon from the west.

The high density (1.5 x 1.0 mts) vineyards planted nearly 120 years ago now have deep root systems that do not require irrigation. For decades the healthy vines supplied neighboring producers with high quality grapes. Today, 30 of the original hectares of Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon have been reclaimed and provide the foundation for our ultra premium wine.

Motivated by our ongoing desire to express this spirit, we have expanded to the hillsides with new plantations of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Syrah, and Merlot, for a total of 125 hectares.

The conditions of our terroir include a semi-arid Mediterranean climate, granitic soils, and an ample daily temperature differential—aptitudes that result in grapes that ripen later and with better balance and elegance.

Virgin forests and native fauna complement the natural scenery of this 1,300-hectare property that concentrates the best of the valley and contributes to the unique personality of a great wine such as Neyen de Apalta.
